What a great piece. As a sufferer, I didn't get the blatant Toughen up message, but I knew that was the best thing. The stigma is astounding. At 68, the most distressing thing is how little has changed at the most cellular reactions to the suffering we experience.

When I think of the "juice" fueling ME TOO and BLM, I envied the unapologetic energy of people who had just "had it." Our anger gets so squashed by our vulnerability. Im a clinical psychologist with a long history. I have been "out there" about my experiences, but I have pulled back on expressing the degree of my fury in public, I think because if I get really angry, I may get emotional and then I'll look "crazy."

You are right---discussions need to be normalized

Thanks
