The irony in all of this nonsense is the line printed on prescriptions over and over, "follow dr's instructions..." and the kicker, "Dont skip or double up on prescription doses, blah blah blah. These people are dishing out potentially (through no fault of our own) addictive drugs that will bite us in the ass if discontinued abruptly.-- true for adhd meds, anxiolitics and who knows how many black box drugs . Should you get anxious or assertive in pursuing your responsibility for taking meds properly, you can then be seen (and dismissed) through the lens of your "diagnosis." This is the essence of stigma. I think every doc should have to take a course in "All the shitty things patients go through while they're just trying to follow YOUR directions. I'd be happy to sign up as an instructor. for free.
