thanks david,
The "Jewish" "Catholic doctor designation was in quotes because that's how people referred to them. There was a suspicion of a "non Catholic" doctor of any specialty and I still don't know why. The doctor I ended up going with was male. Since this was about 60 years ago, there weren;t too many women to choose from. Although since then, I have chosen male gynecologist. It took me awhile to learn that it was possible to get good care and respect in the same person, regardless of gender. The men who helped me through miscarriages and other painful events in my reproductive life are still so appreciated as I look back. Were you an obgyn? Ive been getting a lot of notes and I got one from a woman who had to get her husband's permission for a tubal ligation! martha
