I have no problem with people owning a gun for protection, for sport or even personal preference, But there is no need for automatic weapons. My father, an FBI agent carried a gun everyday and for a time was a firearms instructor at Quantico. He and his colleagues had an enormous respect for the power of guns and were the most vociferous about gun control issues.
